1966 Honda S600 Coupe

We have on offer a 1966 Honda S600 Coupe project — an exceptionally rare early Japanese sports car and one of Honda’s most important collector models. The vehicle is believed to have last been running around 2016. Since then, the body was removed, repainted, and subsequently refitted onto the chassis. Importantly, the vehicle retains its complete running gear. There are a few components missing, however all missing parts are known and sourceable overseas through established Honda contacts and specialist suppliers. Only approximately 1,800 Honda S600 Coupes were originally produced worldwide, with reports suggesting that as few as 110 examples remain globally today. Very few exist within South Africa, making this an exceptionally uncommon offering locally. As appreciation for early Japanese collector vehicles continues to rise internationally, the Honda S-series models are becoming increasingly recognised as significant and desirable classics. Current overseas market values for fair-condition S600 Coupes reportedly range between approximately R550,000 and R650,000, with values continuing to strengthen. Importantly, importing a similar vehicle into South Africa today would cost substantially more once shipping, duties, VAT, and import-related expenses are taken into account due to South Africa’s high tax and duty structure. The vehicle’s body presents exceptionally well and is rust free. Overall, it would not take much to return the car to running condition and create a highly usable and exceptionally rare classic that is unlikely to be seen at local car events or gatherings. The vehicle is sold without registration papers, however papers can be obtained.
