Overview

This 1959 Riley One-Point-Five is ideal as a classic "Town Car" and will always draw attention. From the available record, the car was first registered in Fochville. It is believed to have had just two owners since new, both in Transvaal/Gauteng. It was acquired by its current owner in 2012 and brought to Knysna. At some time in the 1990's, its registration was allowed to lapse and on recovery from the archives, it was registered as "built up" with its original date of 1959 correctly recorded. All Rootes Group vehicles were assembled in South Africa at National Motor Assemblies in Alberton. This Riley retains all its original components and has been well cared for by its previous owners. The Riley starts and runs very well. Over the past 10 years, the braking, cooling and fueling systems have all been restored, as have the starter motor, dynamo and regulator. Some minimal rust on the body was sorted and the vehicle repainted. The car wears a new set of tyres. Caution: The Riley is a classic car and does not have the passenger and system safety characteristics of modern vehicles. But it's solid and can be driven regularly. It is more than just a weekend driver.
